hello my name is kelsea and i'm 14. When i was little i had many ear infections and my doctors just kept putting tubes in, but then my ear (left one) started to drain my doctor sent me for a second opinion with another docotor in vancouver. When we went to see him, he suggested that we put a permanent tube in that ear. We were scheduled for Dec 9, 2004. So then we came back for the surgery and when i was in the waiting room with my parents, the nurse gave me some pills but gave me little water, i swalled the first one with ease but i chocked on the second one, but i was OK. When i got put under (put to sleep) the ENT doctor went in to put the permamnt tube in and found a cholesteatoma that had taken up my hole mastoid. (cavity)During that operation, i woke up and stoped breathing but they put more medicine in me and i was OK. They immeadiately told my dad that we need to get the C-Toma out ASAP. So we got an appointement on Dec 22, 2004 to remove it. We went to the hospital and got a radical mastoidectamy, but they could not save anything in the ear. I have no hearing at all in the left ear. Right now, August 29, 2006, my ear has not recovered yet and still is draining with a horrible smell. Thankfully i am able to go to the hospital in vancouver to get it cleaned every couple of months. Thank you very much Vancouver Childrens Hospital, i couldn't have done it with out you! Pray for me please! Love Kelsea
