I have had ear problems my entire life. I had tubes twice when I was younger and had many ear infections. Five years ago I experienced a dizziness that put me in bed for about a week or two. I went and saw a doctor, keep in mind that I have seen many doctors over the years whom have simply said that I have infections in my ears and that is all, and because the new doctor was almost retired and had much experience he noted that my experience was not normal. He sent me to the best E.N.T specialist he knew and there is where I found out I had C-toma. I went through my first surgery at this point. I had a modified radical mastoidectomy. They were able to save some of my hearing. Not long afterwards, about a year later I was still expereincing trouble, so I was sent for another MRI. They found that the growth had continued. So at that point I was sent for a radical mastoidectomy. All my bones of hearing had eroded and after the surgery I was left with no hearing and a slight amount of difficulty with my facial nerve (I can't whistle now).Just recently I went to the doctor again and had a routine MRI done and what do you know, I have the growth back again. Only this time it is threatening to cut my facial nerve. So the doctor wants to go in a third time to get rid of it.I am tired of having this procedure happen to me - this will be the third time in five years. I just had my appendix out this year for an emergency surgery. My question for everyone out there is: Is there any other way to beat this thing? Do we simply have to continue to go through surgery every time it grows back, and why does it continue to grow back?I am tired of it all and would love to hear some support from others that have gone through it. I am a teacher and have had to take 1-2 months off school each time I have surgery. Not fun.
