Wikipedia - Cholesteatoma ]

Since I was about 6 or 7 I have had ear trouble. I had tubes in my ears to help release pressure that was causing my ear aches. A year or so later the tubes had gone and my ear drums needed to be repaired. Many times, the surgeries did not take. By the time I was 13 my family was to take a trip to Las Vegas, of course I had an earache right before the flight. I felt horrible pressure in my right ear until finally I felt a pop and felt some release. A day later my ear started to ooze a very yellow liquid. A doctor had come to the hotel we were staying at and perscribed some painkillers. My family and I all just thought I had a bad earache, but to our surprise the ENT had told us I had cholesteatoma. 3 surgeries later my cholesteatoma is gone, but I still have to get checked out every year. One of the residents had told me I would have ear problems for the rest of my life, and that I would have trouble with balance and moving quickly. I was upset by that comment, and worked very hard on how I move and walk around. No matter how bad the news may be, still try your best. Currently, I walk fine, and take martial arts, and have been for the last 3 years. Dealing with ear problems is not easy at all, especially for young children. Little can quell the pain that is felt, sleeping is difficult, and keeping a positive outlook is almost impossible. I can remember telling my friends that they couldnt possibly understand what I was going through, I wish I had known of this website sooner, I hope whoever reads this sees there are people that can relate to them, and they'll make it through this rather uncomfortable part of life.
